Peace Within

Yes I had to make another sympathy card. This time a co-worker of my daughter lost her cat. I of course pulled out peace within ( I love this retired set ) I did however have to alter it a bit as Tiff said the cat needed to be white and fluffy. The cat on the stamp is a short hair tabby. What I did was inked the stamp with my basic black marker all except the cat. I stamped it on Whisper White card stock and used my water color pencils and blender pens to color it in. I then created a white fluffy cat and fussy cut it our and used glue dots to place him on the chair. What do you think?

I used another retired stamp set for the With Sympathy.
A retired designer paper with a very vanilla and basic gray pattern was layered on basic gray card to frame the image which was also layered on basic gray. The with sympathy was stamped in basic black on piece of basic grey that was layered on the basic grey base. A black satin ribbon was tied around the card front to add an elegant touch and the card front was mounted onto a Very Vanilla Card.

The card is larger than the A4 size. I made it 5 x 6.5" The image is large enough that it really needs a larger card base to be able to do all the layering that I like.

I hope you enjoyed this remake of peace within.
Thanks for stopping by.

See ya soon

With Sympathy

So I had another sympathy card to make. I kept it clean and simple with an elegant cream and black color scheme.

The black border sets off the cream on cream layering.

The black satin bow is the perfect touch on the sheet music paper.

The same black and cream layers inside highlight the sentiment.

Wedding Flowers

We created all of the table decorations and bouquets. Tiff, I and the bridesmaids got together multiple times through out the year before the wedding to work all of the wedding items.

I used encyclopedia pages to create some paper flowers to add to Tiff's bouquet. The centers of the flowers are antique buttons that belonged to my grandmother. These not only supply something old (the buttons) but the book page flowers are one of my signature crafts. And the encyclopedia pages give a nod to Tiff's occupation of reference librarian.

Here are some pictures of a few of the other items were created.

Instead of a Guest Book Tiff had a Silver mat board  cut to 20 x 20 and we punched out hearts in several shades of purple. Guests signed the hearts and it will framed as a piece of art work.

I did not get a picture of all of the center pieces but here is one. Each center piece was unique. We used a variety of candle sticks, and milk glass vases to create one of a kind arrangements for each table. Because they were designed by either myself, Tiff or one of the bridesmaids they all have a personality of their own.

You can also see in this photo the table numbers and the thank you gift. The thank you gift was a candle in a frosted glass holder. They were decorated with purple satin and tulle. A heart was punched out of purple paper and stamped with thank you and attached with a silver ribbon.

Happy Father's Day

When it came time to make a Father's day card I was a bit stumped. I only had the one stamp which I have used before on the inside of previous father's day cards. I was going through all my stamps to find something masculine that I had not used before, nothing. Then I was putting stuff away that I had been using to scrap book family albums and this designer paper just jumped out at me. So for this card I let the paper do all the work and just added the Happy Father's Day stamp to the front. A couple more paper accents to the inside finished it off and it was ready to send.

Wedding Invitation

Finally as promised the wedding invitations. Tiff's colors were purple and silver. I used elegant eggplant cardstock from Stamping' Up as the base of the invitation. It was embossed with the flowers to give it a subtle texture.

The belly band was created from a brushed silver paper. The  Mr. & Mrs. Stamp is a retired Stamping' Up stamp. It was stamped in versa mark and heat embossed in silver. Again a very subtle tone on tone. The silver shape was cut out with a retired frame lit, the purple frame was created by cutting a rectangle 1/8" larger that the silver and adding two 1" circles on the ends.

For a finishing touch all of the corners were rounded on the folder and all of the inserts.

Penguin Cake Topper

Tiffany wanted her wedding cake topper to be two penguins that when standing facing each other created a heart shape.

I experimented with several sizes. You can see a larger unpainted set in back. She liked the smaller size.

Below they are back to back so you can see the other side.

Here they are in the process of getting painted.

Hello All,

Ok so here I am again. I really do plan on getting some pictures posted of wedding stuff. This week has been busy. Actually the past month has been a bit hectic.

I'll start with May

Craft Fair Florissant Valley of Flowers was May 1st and 2nd
I worked at the library on Sunday May 3rd through Thursday May 7th

Off on the 8th but worked on Saturday May 9th
Went out to eat with Tiff on Sunday for Mothers Day at Simply Thai

Worked at the library Monday May 10th to Wednesday May 13th.
Made a wreath and put together the banners for the Bridal Shower.

Thursday May 14th
Drove up to Chicago to pick my sister and her family up from the airport. Their flight arrived at 3:40 p. m. Drove down to Pekin to stay the night at my brothers.

Friday May 15th
Slept in.
Went to Judy's (now Peggi's) in Morton for breakfast. My Mother used to work there when she was living. My sister lived near there when she first got married. And my brother-in-law worked there awhile. It is a small town diner with regular customers and everyone knows everybody.
Made a stop at the Walmart in Morton so they could do some shopping. Then headed home.

Saturday May 16th
Woke up that morning to find the garbage disposal dismantled on the kitchen table. Brother-in-law was bored and  asked my sister what needed fixing. Spent the morning having coffee and visiting.
Later I made a card for Tiffs shower.
5:00 loaded everything up in the car to head to a bridesmaids house were the shower was being held.
We decorated plastic goblets, had cocktails, appetizers and cajun gumbo. Played a few games. Tiff opened gifts and about 9:00 a bunch of the girls headed out to see a drag show. Not your typical bridal shower/bachelorette party.

Sunday May 17th
Slept in.

I can't remember the order of where all we went that week. We made trips to the grocery store ( got gluten free food for my sister), the goodwill, a couple of malls. Those are some of the places I took them.

Tiff took them to others. Lowes to get a new garbage disposal, mine wasn't fixable.

Tiff had us over on Monday for a barbecue. She had roasted corn on the cob, barbecue chicken, baked beans and s'mores with gluten free graham crackers.

My brother-in-law fixed my lawn mower, mowed the lawn, cleaned the gutters, fixed the sticking handle on the back door, put up a light fixture, replaced the shower head and installed the new garbage disposal. He's not happy without something to tinker with.

My sister had ordered three dressed from Target to wear in the wedding, she got two styles one was short the other style she got a long and short. The two short dresses were a bust, my niece thought the long dress made her mom look taller, she is all of 4' 11. The dress however needed hemmed but we could not do that until she found shoes. So while I was working on my dress they went with Tiff to look for shoes. She took them to a couple of thrift stores and not only did she find shoes she liked but a dress she liked better that fit perfect. So all the Target dresses went back the next day. And her travel budget increased, WooHoo!

Yes I said while I was working on my dress. I had the pattern and fabric but had not gotten around to making my dress for the wedding. I had tried ordering some items online and one of the blouses would have worked but it was a tad big and I wasn't really sold on it. The other items were just too casual, they were kind of dressy bohemian. But I did get the dress made and returned the top I didn't care for. The bohemian items I kept.

So this brings us to
Thursday May 21st
Wedding rehearsal at 4:00 and afterwards dinner at Seamus McDaniels.

The Bride and Groom gave out gifts to the bridesmaids and groomsmen and to their family members. Tiff gave me a cute cat card (we are cat people).

She wrote inside
Thank you soon much for everything that you do for me. I am so very thankful and grateful. I couldn't ask for a more awesome woman as my mother.

She is just soooo sweet!
And she gave me some lovely earrings.

And now the Big Day is Here!!!
May 22nd
The Wedding

I'll share details about that in another post.

See Ya Soon
